No Bueno: Tarte neutralEYES Palette

Last week Sephora had a pre-sale for VIBs and I decided to purchase some Tarte products since they were being sold at a discounted price and I've never tried them but have always been drawn to the elegant purple packaging! I prepared my face as I normally would, but substituted my usual Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer with a sample of Tarte's Park Ave Princess Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer. I don't see the draw to the Amazonian Clay products. It was hard to get on my brush, and its coverage was nothing to write home about.

Next, I opened Tarte's Clean Slate 12-hr eye primer only to find its consistency was less than ideal. It was super watery because the product had separated. I thought, "fair enough, I just need to squish it and mix it up." WRONG! It's just watery by nature. I was not impressed but continued to gently apply the shimmery soft peach shadow to my lids. I had a lot on my brush, but you'd never know it by the look of my lids! I tried patting the shimmery bronze on top of that for more pigment but it failed miserably as well! I then used the matte brown in my crease, which was pretty. I used the matte soft pink as my highlight. I am open to lighter, softer eye looks, but these were truly a disgrace to eye shadows! However, I did love the brush provided. Very soft but functional. To finish the look I used the provided emphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner. First of all, it burned my eyes! Second of all, the formula was so wet that it made my lashes go flat. It did not glide on easily and created a muddied look. It also pooled in the inner corner of my eye. I would not recommend buying from this line simply due to the fact that the brush is the only admirable product.

  1. I had a similar experience with the eye primer as well. I was wanting to try out this palette, but it seems like there are better quality ones out there. Thank you for an honest review!
