Fall Haul! JCPenney & Macy's

My mom and I had a shopping spree today and I picked up a few fall items to soften the blow of summer being another 8 months away ha! First stop...JCPenney. I totally took this photo in the dressing room to get approval from the BFF.

She and my mom convinced me to get it!

Next, Macy's! This is a dark fucshia but looks closer to hot pink below.

I made a conscious effort this shopping trip to at least get one thing in a color I don't normally wear/own. This was it! It's a dark olive green and I love it! I also got some new black jeans that I plan on wearing out for late hot chocolate and dessert nights.

This looks light in the photo, but it's primarily navy and is actually quite dark.

Now, if only I could find some cute boots! :) Thanks for reading!

FOTD: Peacock Inspired

Here's my makeup mess for the day:

And this is what I came up with:

My inspiration:

I picked this peacock clip up at ShopCo a few years ago mostly because it was brown and turquoise-two of my favorite colors! It's raining here today, so the lighting is off, but I hope you can try out this look! :)

I used LORAC's Pewter as a base and Too Faced's Peacock in the outer half. I used Too Faced's Silk Teddy as a highlight. Another good look for fall since I'll be wearing these colors more.

FOTD: Navy Smokey Eye

I'm pretty particular about using one brand and using its primer to reach its full potential, but this time I used Too Faced & Urban Decay shadows. I followed the same routine as my previous Navy Smokey Eye look, but applied Too Faced eyeshadow in Smolder before the e.l.f. Lustrous eye shadow. By doing this, I was able to achieve an even more bold Navy smokey look. Compare the difference!

Only Urban Decay:

Another great look for fall! Thanks for reading! :)

LOTD: Fall look using the LORAC PRO Palette

Yes, I used the f word! Fall is here once again! I am definitely a summer-loving gal, but I can appreciate fall, especially here in the southwest! It's absolutely beautiful and cooler temperatures are nice as well! Today I decided I was ready to make the transition into fall and wanted to use my new palette. It just so happens that a YouTube Beauty Guru I like to watch, TiffanyD, did a fall look tutorial on the LORAC PRO palette-and you can watch it here: http://youtu.be/V2z79ZtxckU. She used a Sigma eyeshadow base in the color Strike, but I used a Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk instead. I really liked it! Also, where she used Espresso, I used Black because I knew I was going to be wearing a black dress. I finished the look with Too Faced Papa Don't Peach blush and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss in Ruby Sugar.

Here's what I came up with:

FOTD: LORAC PRO Palette

I ended up returning the Tarte neutralEYES palette and purchased this instead. I tried it out this morning and so far I'm loving the difference in quality! I used the following shadows: Mauve, Garnet, Lt. Bronze, and Sable on my eyelids and Lt. Pink and Nude as highlights. I used Rimmel's Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl eyeliner in black on my waterline and Ulta's Automatic eyeliner in Black/Brown above my lashes for more definition. I used Sephora's Full Action Mascara and topped off my lashes with Almay's Get Up & Grow-both in black. For my face I used my Olay CC Cream in Fair/Light and bareMinerals in Medium. I warmed up my face by contouring with what's left of my Tarte Amazonian Clay Park Ave. Princess Bronzer sample and a little Amazonian Clay 12-hr. blush in Dollface-over my Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush in Pink Frosting of course! A look isn't finished without some lip product, so I used Buxom Lip Gloss in Clair.

Here's the look:

No Bueno: Tarte neutralEYES Palette

Last week Sephora had a pre-sale for VIBs and I decided to purchase some Tarte products since they were being sold at a discounted price and I've never tried them but have always been drawn to the elegant purple packaging! I prepared my face as I normally would, but substituted my usual Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer with a sample of Tarte's Park Ave Princess Amazonian Clay Matte Waterproof Bronzer. I don't see the draw to the Amazonian Clay products. It was hard to get on my brush, and its coverage was nothing to write home about.

Next, I opened Tarte's Clean Slate 12-hr eye primer only to find its consistency was less than ideal. It was super watery because the product had separated. I thought, "fair enough, I just need to squish it and mix it up." WRONG! It's just watery by nature. I was not impressed but continued to gently apply the shimmery soft peach shadow to my lids. I had a lot on my brush, but you'd never know it by the look of my lids! I tried patting the shimmery bronze on top of that for more pigment but it failed miserably as well! I then used the matte brown in my crease, which was pretty. I used the matte soft pink as my highlight. I am open to lighter, softer eye looks, but these were truly a disgrace to eye shadows! However, I did love the brush provided. Very soft but functional. To finish the look I used the provided emphasEYES aqua-gel eyeliner. First of all, it burned my eyes! Second of all, the formula was so wet that it made my lashes go flat. It did not glide on easily and created a muddied look. It also pooled in the inner corner of my eye. I would not recommend buying from this line simply due to the fact that the brush is the only admirable product.

LOTD

In the spirit of "Selfie Sunday" here is my look of the day! I wanted to wear white one last time before the Labor Day rule kicked in, so I decided to wear this tea party-inspired dress to church today. I put my hair in a side messy bun to show of the collar of my dress and to do something different with my hair.

My dress is from Dillard's a few years back. I used Urban Decay Smog on my lids with Hustle in the outer third and Half Baked in the center to tie in with the yellow in my dress without actually wearing yellow eyeshadow. Buxom Lip Gloss in Dolly.
