Review: LORAC Unzipped Palette

Today I was able to try out my newly purchased eye shadow palette...The LORAC Unzipped palette.

This was my first time using a LORAC product. I have heard that their shadows are highly pigmented, so I started out gently in my application and built the colors up gradually. I primed my lids with the provided LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer. I then put the shade Unbelievable from my eyelashes to crease and Undercover from the crease to eyebrows. I also dabbed Undercover in my tear duct area to brighten up my eyes. Next, I took Unconditional and applied it on my brow bone. I then mixed Unbridled and Untamed and applied the mixture to the outer one-third of my lid and brought it to my crease. Undercover really didn't act as much of a highlight as I would have liked, so I applied Unreal over it. I don't mind using a matte shade under my brows but this one was a bit of a dud. Overall, I would say the shadows are great quality, with very little fallout, and were true to color. I loved the primer! To finish this look I used Ulta's automatic eyeliner in Black/Brown and my Sephora Full Action mascara and Almay's Get Up & Grow mascara--both in Black. For my face I used Olay's CC Cream in Fair to Light, bareMinerals in Medium, Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer all over, Revlon Photo Ready Bronzer as a contour, and e.l.f. blush in Merry Bery. I used L'Oreal's Infallible Lip Color in Hibiscus on my lips.

Here's the final look:

I look forward to trying different looks with this palette! Thanks for reading!

Review: L'Oréal Infallible Lip Color

A vlogger I watch on YouTube raves about the L'Oréal Infallible Lip Colors and I wanted to see what the hype was all about. On  L'Oréal's website it claims the colors will hold up to 16 hours! That's crazy long to me, so I put it to the test over an 8 hour period.

What color I used:

My lips before:

Freshly applied:

After 2 hours:

I reapplied the clear coat again and it looked almost like new.

8 hours later:

Freshly applied and 8 hours later:

As you can see, it didn't last even half the time that it claimed that it would. I would say my lips are slightly tinted at this point, but not nearly enough to be seen as colored. Right now my lips look more sunburned than anything. With that being said, the fact that it did hold up through me eating, drinking, talking and napping for as long as it did, I'd say it's worth it. I can never keep any lip color on for very long, so I was impressed it looked almost new after two hours and with only the thin clear layer reapplied. Granted, that is only an eighth of the time it claimed it would last, so you can take it or leave it! And as always, thanks for reading! :D

FOTD: Sephora MicroSmooth in After Glow

When my schedule is hectic I tend to lean on things that I know will work for me. In times of great stress, I find myself listening to the same songs on my iPod, wearing outfits that are no-brainers, and using makeup that is tried and true! So this summer I've attempted to branch out a little more with some products I don't use or experiment with as much. This is a "palette" if you will that sephora.com recommended to me based on my profile. It claimed that these shadows would make my blue eyes pop, so being the sucker that I am I bought it and have had it for a while but rarely use it. It's one that can be used dry or wet, so I tried it wet this time. I've done this in the past, but wanted to see if it would hold up on such a humid day.

Just moments after application:

Hours later, after much running around in the humid heat:

I'd say it held up pretty well! Please forgive the fly-away hairs!

I first applied Urban Decay Primer Potion and then sprayed my clean brushes with water and then dipped into the shadows carefully to not mix them. (I have also used Palladio Herbal Eyeshadow Primer before. Just use some kind of primer!) I applied the taupe shade on my lid and then the pink from my crease to eyebrows. Lastly I used the purple as a crease color. Once it was dry, I was able to blend it better and I think I even applied a little more in areas I needed it. It's very shimmery and yet very warm. It might be the sucker talking, but I think it makes my blues eye pop!

FOTD: Too Faced Sweet Indulgence Palette

This was a holiday gift set that I was all over like a chicken on a June bug! I have three other Too Faced palettes and I love the quality and pigmentation of their face products!

These are the products I used:

I first put Shadow Insurance from my lash line to eyebrows. I then put Peach Fuzz all over my eyelids. I then took Gum Drop and pat it on my lid, just past my crease. It's important to be careful to not stroke it onto the eyelid because there will be major fall-out. The nature of Gum Drop isn't shimmery--it's glittery--and it's imperative to do this while the Shadow Insurance hasn't dried yet. Next, very faintly I took Malted Milk Ball and swept it into the crease and outer canthus of my eye. I also put a little Cherry Cola on top of  Malted Milk Ball. I followed up by applying eyeliner, allowing the line to get thicker towards the outer canthus.
For my face I applied Chocolate Soleil Bronzer all over for a warm contrast since I would be wearing a color that could very easily wash me out. Because I was using and wearing so much pink I was grateful this particular palette had a peach blush included called Papa Don't Peach. It balanced out all the pink and it looked great with the warmth from the bronzer. I also did not apply it heavily because I wanted the focus to be one my eyes. To finish my look I applied bareMinerals/Bare Escentuals Buxom lip gloss in Kanai. (A peach or even lighter pink would also look fabulous, but I just had to try out my new lip gloss!)

The finished look:

Favorite Mascara: Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect

My lashes right out of the shower:

Up close so you have an idea of what I'm working with here...This is a photo of them after being curled once.

With one coat of Sephora Full Action Extreme effect mascara in black. I did not separate my lashes or curl them again.

I love how this mascara, and the wand that it comes with, lifts, separates and lengthens my lashes. It just makes my eyes open up. Everyone loves a full, flirty lash and I love how this mascara helps to achieve just that! ;-)
